Self Care Strategies

Self Care is key to Wellbeing

Practice self love and care.  Taking time out for yourself is a good practice each day or week.

Practice good self-care. You will love yourself more, when you take better care of your basic needs. People high in self-love nourish themselves daily through healthy activities, like sound nutrition,  exercise, proper sleep, intimacy and healthy social interactions.

I offer guidance on this practice as part of my  guidance work for clients.  Making simple changes can be life changing.

Hormone Support with Tea –Hibiscus and Sage Tea is beneficial for Women in peri and menopause

Hibiscus has been used to help women in many cultures to support hormones and can be restorative during menopausal symptoms.

Hibiscus tea is rich in anti-oxidants which antioxidant properties to help fight against aging and keep skin healthy and glowing.

Hibiscus is also known for its’ calming properties and is good for managing  hot flashes during the menopause as it helps the Central nervous system to restore homeostasis and hormone imbalances. The vitamin C and anti-inflammatory properties of hibiscus tea can also be highly effective when treating acne – so its good for teens going through their transitions too.

Hibiscus Tea

Hibiscus tea speeds up metabolism

vitamin C plays an important role in improving our metabolism. The presence of vitamin C in hibiscus tea allows this tea to speed up and regulate our metabolism. If you are trying to lose weight, or are trying to maintain your current weight, try drinking hibiscus tea.

Sage

Research undertaken in  Switzerland showed Sage to be helpful for menopausal women who were reporting at least five  hot flushes day.  Try using Fresh sage leaves for eight weeks and see what happens.

Yoga

Helps build core strength and  can be helpful during the any stage of life. Core strength exercises have been well documented as good for peri and menopause –  There are many different types of yoga.  I like vinyasa, Hatha flow and Pranic as they help me keep my balance in my life.  Just 20 mins a day could be enough for beginners.

I cannot stress the value of Yoga enough and use a few programmes each week as my go to therapy for time of stress and I can honestly say they always work.

Reiki and Seichem Healing

Reiki and Seichem healing can be effective to help calm down the Central Nervous System and manage any anxieties  Refer to my services and treatment  for details .  Regular energy healings will help restore inner balance and harmony

Bespoke Dietary Plans and Self Care Changes –Right for you and your needs…

Make necessary dietary changes with my support to support you during the peri and menopause. This can be easily achieved with a personalised and bespoke nutrition and wellbeing plan.

I usually recommend a blood test to focus on the right amino acids and minerals needed for you and your personal care. These can be obtained via your GP or privately. I have a few places I send clients so do not hesitate and ask me below.

Wild Yam Cream – Has been used as a topical cream and applied to skin, creams made with wild yam are marketed as a natural source of oestrogen. However, there’s no definitive evidence (yet) to support whether wild yam increases oestrogen levels.

You will be empowered to make the right choices for your personal needs as one size does not fit all .

Meditation – A new daily practice

Meditation helps calm the mind

Meditation can be a useful practice for reducing anxiety caused by the peri or Menopause.  Take a look at my classes under events for details of my next event or programmes.

I practice meditation and breathing to help release stress and restore my inner voice which guides me to make the right choices for me. You could learn to do the same in one of my moon circles.

Natural and Safe alternatives that I recommend when beginning your journey of self care journey :

  • Staying hydrated.Water is vital  as it provides hydration to the body  at a cellular level. 8 glasses a day will help nourish you and your body.
  • Phytoestrogens. Increasing  flaxseed ( as seen in the table above) can help with Oestrogen deficiency.
  • Omega-3 fatty acids.Found in deep marine and cold-water fish /flaxseed oil, can be helpful  with vaginal lubrication.
  • Eating a balanced Full fat  diet. Low-fat diets are actually worse for  vaginal dryness. I offer bespoke and personalised foods and always recommend unsaturated fats over saturated fats to support wellbeing.
  • Meditation – discover ways to add this to your life with my support and guidance
  • Yoga – find a class or being gentle classes in the comfort of your home that suit your level and needs. I can recommend some teachers if your interested.

Homeopathy – could be alternative choice

Peri Menopause

The Peri-Menopause journey will be different for everyone and can typically be between 2-10 years (average of 4) before your final menstruation.

Try keeping a journal. This can be helpful during this phase and helps me understand the ways I can help you with your personalised programme using your lived experiences and symptoms or life stage.

Dietary changes and lifestyle changes can play an immense role in improving women lives .

Conventional doctors do not always have the knowledge or time to help women with alternative options other than HRT.  There are a lot of alternative diets and therapies which are safer and better for womens’ health and well being as shown above.
